“Come & Get It” is a song recorded by Selena Gomez. The track written by Ester Dean and produced by Stargate is confirmed as the first single and is a really “good taste” of her upcoming third studio album to follow and it’s a fun “pop-electro” dance track. The single was released on digital retailers on April 7th, 2013. Selena performed the song for the first time at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, April 14. Followed by Ellen on April 16.
She also confirmed that the album will be the first to launch without the help of her band “The Scene”. They have decided to take separate paths. Therefore, the album will release under the name of Selena Gomez and it’s scheduled for release during the summer via Hollywood Records. Among the songs that may be included on the album will be the long-awaited re-worked version of the song “My Dilemma” under the name “My Dilemma 2.0” and will feature American rapper Flo Rida. This was confirmed in mid-July this year by the American producers Tim James and Antonina Armato, known as Rock Mafia. Not confirmed if this new version finally serve as a future promotional single.
The album will also feature productons of their usual producer Toby Glad, responsible for the songs “A Year Without Rain” from their second album and also “Bang Bang Bang” and “We Own the Night“ from their latest album. Selena has since listed Skrillex as one of the album’s biggest influences.
The production of the single starts off foggy and in the distance, escalating as Selena’s crystal clear voice sings, “This love will be the death of me, but I know, I’ll die happily“. Intense emotions to match the intense jungle, reggae-Bollywood-electronic-synth-beat! The song is pretty good and a big step for Selena to become a pop super star a perfect mix between hindú vibe, a little dubstep touch and pop. You can see the style of Rihanna in the track. I guess because it’s produced by the creators of hits like “S&M“, “Only Girl (In the World)“, “What’s My Name?” or “Rude Boy“. One thing is clear, in Selena’s world the normal thing is the monotony on re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat, and doesn’t miss the opportunity with the lyrics of this new single: “When you are rea-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh, when you are rea-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh” and the following and catchy “nana na nana na na, nana na nana na na”. God bless you Se-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-elena! Your new style after Spring Breakers is perfect. So… if you’re ready, come and get it NOW!
